The view from the top is well worth the effort!  Gibsons - like the rest of the Sunshine Coast - is famous for its artists, crafters and otherwise talented folk. Many of these artists open their home studios to the public. There are also a number of public galleries and storefronts to visit. Of special interest is the newly-opened Artists Co-op Gallery on Marine Drive, a venue for displaying local artists work. Spend a day taking a self-guided studio tour to see this creative talent in action. Pamper yourself and ease into the luxury of a Bed and Breakfast, after a restful night in one of the "that bed is amazing" and awake to the aromas of fresh coffee and home made baking and delicious goodies. Bed & Breakfasts offer that personal touch, special care each morning with home cooked breakfasts. You may want to check out nearby beaches with views and sunsets are spectacular and visitors spend many hours strolling the beaches. From barnacle-encrusted fishing trawlers to the sleekest of cruising yachts, you'll find them tied up sooner or later at one of Gibsons wharves. The busy government docks are right in downtown Gibsons, and the Gibsons Marina is just along the shoreline. Both are in active use by working and pleasure craft all along the Coast. The nautically obsessed will be content for hours checking out the rigging and chatting with the captains. Kids enjoy fishing off the docks and discovering the colourful starfish and anemones growing up the pilings. On the right day, you can find a great deal on some freshly-caught prawns or halibut, sold right off the boat that caught them. If you're into fishing yourself, pick up a license and board one of our great charter boats and spend the day hunting for the ever-elusive `big one`. Perhaps one of Gibsons biggest claims to fame is as the site where the long-running TV series The Beachcombers was filmed. Although the film crews are long gone, Molly's Reach restaurant and the pier (where much of the filming was done) are still there, and several of the cast, notably the star of the series, Bruno Gerussi, chose to make their homes here. After all, they know there's more to Gibsons than The Beachcombers. After enjoying a bite to eat at Molly`s Reach, head down to the government wharf. Watch the comings and goings of the many commercial and recreational boats in the harbour, and strike up a conversation with one of the local captains. Who knows? You might even get a deal on some fresh-off-the-boat halibut or prawns - the seafood lover`s dream come true! The unique scenic seaside village acts as the gateway to the Sunshine Coast of British Columbia.
